The East University Avenue Choice Neighborhood Plan takes a corridor-wide approach to revitalization in East Gainesville, linking housing transformation to broader neighborhood investment. Led by the City of Gainesville and the Gainesville Housing Authority, the effort focuses on Pine Meadows and Lake Terrace, two public housing communities with roughly 180 units, while also addressing conditions across a 1.5-square-mile area.

The Plan is designed to guide long-term investment through coordinated Housing, People, and Neighborhood strategies. Proposed actions include replacing existing public housing with modern mixed-income development, improving connections to schools and services, and enhancing transportation access and neighborhood amenities. One of the most notable outcomes of the planning process has been strong resident and stakeholder engagement, which helped surface priorities such as youth programming, workforce training, entrepreneurship, and more effective communication around resources. These early successes have helped build momentum for future implementation funding.
